We've all been like "I really want a server". And I get it, servers hold a lot of flexibility, and you can do what you want, when you want.
If you had the option to self-host your own personal projects by yourself, keeping in mind the maintenance and hardware troubles is completely your responsibility, would you self-host or use a host that does this for you, such as AWS or Linode?
I would personally self-host, as I am currently doing with this forum and every other site I hold. Because there are no limits and if everything goes well it would give you the upper hand in terms of conversations like "this guy really knows what he's doing".
